Cycling at Lake Faak
Lake Faak is a little idyll in the heart of sunny Carinthia. It is the perfect starting point for getting to know the landscapes and cultures of three different countries: Austria, Italy and Slovenia.
If you want to stay in Austria, then there are countless routes you can use. On a tour along the surrounding lakes, for example, you can even go for a swim. Not far away from Lake Faak, in northern direction, is also the Nock Mountains Biosphere Park which offers some crisp ascents. The lake is also located along the Ironman Tour which leads you along Lake Wörthersee and to the state capital Klagenfurt.
But highlight of the region is definitely the Alpe-Adria 3-Country Tour. The tour takes you through three countries, thus also through their cultures and history, in just one day. The route leads from Lake Faak to Tarvisio in Italy. From there you continue via the historic Predil Pass to Slovenia and then you bike through the Triglav National Park and the Soča Valley. The tour leads then across the Wurzen Pass and back to Lake Faak. There you jump into refreshing water for some relaxation – the perfect road bike holiday.
