Genna Silana
The Genna Silana Pass is one of the most impressive climbs in Sardinia. From Lotzorai, a winding road leads through a wild karst landscape up to an altitude of over 1,000 metres. Quiet, panoramic and perfectly tarmaced - ideal for a long, steady climb with real island character.
The road bike tour to the Genna Silana Pass from Lotzorai is one of the most spectacular routes in Sardinia - wild, winding and quiet. The start in Lotzorai, at sea level, promises a long and steady climb. The road winds its way along the well-maintained SS125 for around 35 kilometres through the dramatic karst landscape of the Ogliastra up to the pass at 1,017 metres. The ascent is never extremely steep - mostly between 4-6%, ideal for rolling in or steady climbing.
The road runs through narrow gorges, Mediterranean forests and repeatedly offers sweeping views as far as the coast. The higher you get, the more lonely it becomes: hardly any traffic, just goats, wind and rocks. Shortly before the top of the pass, the view opens up to the wild Supramonte mountains. At the top, a magnificent viewpoint awaits you - ideal for a short break or photos. This tour offers a unique Sardinian experience: quiet mountain roads, great nature and a rhythmic ascent - perfect for connoisseurs and endurance cyclists.
