Tannheimer Valley Cycle Marathon 2026: Challenge & Enjoyment

  • 5 July 2026
  • Road cycling week with Marcel Wüst from 29 June to Saturday 4 July 2026 to get you in the mood
  • 4 routes to choose from
  • The marathon route, covering 214 km and 3,500 metres of elevation gain, is the ultimate challenge for anyone looking to test their limits.
  • The medium route covers 138 km and 870 Hm – perfect for combining sporting ambitions with stunning views.
  • The short route, covering 103 km with 760 metres of elevation gain, is ideal for beginners or road cyclists who want to experience the scenic beauty of the Tannheim Valley without too much exertion.
  • The beginners’ route covers 66 km and 600 Hm – from the centre of Tannheim via the Schattwald and Gaicht Pass to the Sägerklause.

Passion in action: the valley’s very own cycle marathon

All participants – the professionals, the ambitious amateurs, the proud beginners and the cheering spectators – demonstrate great stamina at the annual Tannheimer Tal Cycling Marathon. With four different distances on offer, the route takes riders from the Alpine foothills into the high mountains – over flat stretches, steep passes and winding descents. This means that all road cycling enthusiasts really do have the chance to take part in the unique experience of the cycling marathon. ‘It’s all about taking part’ is the motto for many participants. There’s hardly a better way to get to know the region on a road cycling holiday and to test yourself against like-minded people. Even former professional cyclists such as Marcel Wüst are drawn back time and again to the legendary cycling marathon. And so the icing on the cake of the marathon experience is indeed an exclusive training session with the pros! Anyone who’d like to train with the stars of the cycling world has a unique opportunity to do so in the Tannheimer Valley: at the numerous professional camps, you can learn from stage winners of the Giro d’Italia, the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España!

But even aside from this annual road cycling spectacle, the high valley at 1,100 metres above sea level captivates road cyclists – with 22 road cycling routes covering around 2,500 kilometres. A road cycling holiday in the Tannheimer Valley takes us to places such as the neighbouring Allgäu, the Lechtal Alps, Lake Constance or the Arlberg. The variety here ranges from little-known side roads to classic routes, such as the 4 Passes Tour. This extremely gruelling tour combines the four most beautiful mountain passes in the region and should have a permanent place on every Tannheimer Valley bucket list: the Gaicht Pass, the Flexen Pass, the Arlberg Pass and the Hahntennjoch. With breathtaking views of the Alpine landscape, this quartet is guaranteed to set your calves alight. And if that’s not enough for you, you can use these routes to prepare for the cycling marathon.

Save the date and come along!

The 2026 Tannheimer Tal Cycle Marathon promises to be an unforgettable experience. Experience the unique combination of sporting challenge and scenic beauty, and enjoy a weekend full of passion, camaraderie and unforgettable moments. Whether you choose the marathon route or the beginner’s option – at the cycle marathon, you’ll find the perfect route for your own personal cycling adventure.

See you in July 2026 – on your bikes, get set, go!
