A racing bike weekend in the Bregenzerwald

Between cheese, hairpin bends & cultural landscape

18/08/2025

The Bregenzerwald is small, green & wonderfully diverse – a road bike jewel between Lake Constance and the Arlberg. Three days full of panoramic roads, classic mountain passes and moments of pleasure await you here. Away from the crowds, you will find the perfect mix of sporting challenge, regional cuisine and peace and quiet to take a deep breath during a road bike weekend in the Bregenzerwald.

Day 1 - Arrive & roll in

Tour tip: Bregenzerwald familiarisation tour - 59 km | 1,100 m elevation gain

Your weekend gets off to a relaxed start. After checking in at the bike hotel, you set off on a familiarisation tour through the gently rolling valleys of the Bregenzerwald. The perfect way to get to know the region and its villages. Savour the first breath of aromatic mountain air, pass through flowering meadows and immerse yourself in the tranquil alpine lifestyle. In the evening, the first culinary highlight awaits: Käsknöpfle, of course with fresh Bregenzerwald alpine cheese.

Day 2 - Queen's stage over three Alpine passes

Tour tip: Furkajoch Tour - approx. 100 km | 2,000 metres in altitude

Today it's time to get down to business: three legendary passes are on the programme. From Au, you cycle over the Hochtannberg Pass, on to Lech, then over the Flexen Pass and finally into the Klostertal valley. After a well-earned coffee break in Bludenz, the final ascent over the Faschinajoch back to the Bregenzerwald awaits. A route that perfectly combines sporting challenge and scenic enjoyment - and is guaranteed to be a talking point at dinner.

Day 3 - Enjoy the panorama & switch off

Tour tip: Hinterwald tour - 44 km | 580 m elevation gain

To round off your Bregenzerwald weekend, choose a relaxed panoramic tour today. The Hinterwald loop takes you through idyllic hamlets, along clear streams and past typical wooden houses with their artistically designed façades. If you like, take a detour to the Bregenzerwald Cheese Road and take a piece of alpine cheese home with you as a souvenir.

A weekend to unwind

After intensive hours in the saddle, the Bregenzerwald with its natural contrast programme ensures perfect relaxation. Whether it's Kneipp therapy in Reuthe, forest bathing or a visit to the moor bath in Sibratsgfäll - nature plays the leading role here. Peace, clear air and conscious deceleration are an integral part of every holiday. Those who prefer classic relaxation will find charming wellness areas with panoramic views in the road bike hotels such as the Hotel Bären**** or the Gämsle Hotel, Wirtshaus & Mehr... in Schoppernau. As the icing on the cake, the award-winning bike hotels offer first-hand tour tips, a bike cellar, laundry service and everything else a cyclist could need.
