Pinè and Manghen Pass
Road bike tour to the Manghen Pass
This route is more than just a "road bike tour", it can be described as a "mountain stage" worthy of the Giro d'Italia, and in fact it has been part of the Corsa Rosa several times.
The start is a flat warm-up stage on the Valsugana cycle path that passes by Lake Caldonazzo; the climb begins in Pergine on the Pinè plateau, passing the village of Brusago, the route continues on a false flat until it reaches the Fiemme Valley and in particular the municipality of Castello-Molina di Fiemme. Here begins the most intense part of the tour and one of the best known, most famous and most feared climbs in Trentino: the Manghen Pass. The average gradient is more than 7%, but there are also sections of 15% along the 16 km route. The highest point is at an altitude of 2032 metres and corresponds to the Passo Manghen mountain hut. Now all that remains is the descent to the bottom of the Valsugana valley and finally the flat way back through the valley on the cycle path from Borgo to Levico.
