Begunje - Tržič - Jamnik
We start the road bike tour directly at the hotel and cycle through the nearby village of Bodešče on the cycle path towards Lesce. On the way, we pass a small hotel where the film "Pr' Hostarju" was shot. Via Lesce we reach Radovljica, where a short stop is worthwhile - the old town centre is worth seeing and is known for one of the largest chocolate fairs in the world. We continue through Begunje and three idyllic villages "under the mountains" with marvellous views to Ljubljana. The descent takes us to Tržič and on to Kranj, the capital of Gorenjska. Here, too, it's worth taking a look at the old town centre. We cross the Sava and pass the ski jumps where many Slovenian champions began their careers. We then follow a valley through Besnica and other villages. A short but steep climb takes us to Jamnik - known for its picturesque church with breathtaking views over three valleys. From there, we roll downhill to Kropa, the historic centre of blacksmithing. About 20 kilometres before our destination, we continue quietly to Lancovo below Radovljica. After a short gravel section (2 km), we reach the bridge over the Sava. A final climb (1 km) takes us back to Bodešče, then on to the hotel. The tour is varied, with several short climbs - only the section to Jamnik is significantly more challenging with gradients of up to 18%.
