Glockner King
On 7 June 2026, the Glocknerkönig enters its 29th round. On this special day, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road is all about cycling: between 7:00 and 10:30 am, the road is closed to car traffic and offers ideal conditions for a unique cycling experience. Anyone can take part - whether beginner, ambitious amateur or professional. A racing licence is not required.
The start is in the centre of Bruck an der Großglocknerstraße. From there, two challenging routes lead through one of the most impressive Alpine landscapes in Europe, making the Glocknerkönig a real highlight in the cycling calendar.
There are two distances to choose from:
Classic with 27.3 kilometres and 1,672 metres of elevation gain to the finish at Fuscher Törl at 2,428 metres above sea level and Ultra with 28.9 kilometres and 1,815 metres of elevation gain, with the finish at Edelweißspitze at 2,571 metres.
Gradients of up to 10-12 per cent demand a lot from the participants and require fitness, strength and stamina. Every effort is rewarded with spectacular views, a unique atmosphere and moments that will live long in the memory. The car-free route ensures maximum safety and allows you to concentrate fully on your cycling adventure.
