What type of road cyclist are you?

From Pass Enthusiast to Rest Stop Rider

10/04/2026

There's not just one way to go on a road bike holiday between epic passes, enjoyable stops and relaxed spa moments – there are many. So the question is not IF you get on your road bike, but HOW. Are you the type to collect metres in altitude, the pleasure rider or the one who combines everything? Time for a little self-check: What type of road cyclist are you?

The pass hunter

You live for altitude metres. Turn after turn, you fight your way up, your pulse at the limit, the goal always in sight: the next pass. Names like Stilfserjoch, Großglockner or Mendelpass make your heart beat faster. Even before the start. The challenge is what counts for you. You measure tours in metres of altitude instead of kilometres and love the feeling when your legs are burning and the view from the top makes up for it all.

Your motto: the steeper, the better.

The kilometre eater

You don't need a legendary pass – you need distance. Preferably endless roads, a steady rhythm and many, many kilometres. Whether along rivers, through rolling hills or on coastal roads: The main thing is to let it roll. You enjoy the flow, the steady pedalling and the feeling of simply being on the road for hours.

Your motto: The journey is the destination.

The explorer

For you, the road bike is a means to an end: to explore new regions. You sometimes take spontaneous turns, stop for viewpoints and take the time to notice what's happening on both sides of the street. Whether it's hidden villages, spectacular nature or cultural highlights: You want to see more than just asphalt.

Your motto: No tour without a wow-moment.

Hybrid Bikes: When Roadbiking Is More Than Just a Sport

Not everyone wants to commit themselves – and this is where it gets exciting. Because it's often the perfect combinations that make a Roadbike Holiday really special and unforgettable.

From the saddle to the sauna bench

You give it your all on the mountain – and you do the same when relaxing. After a tough stage, there's nothing better for you than a sauna, massage or pool. Regeneration is not a luxury for you, but part of your performance. Roadbike & wellness is your culture.

Your motto: First suffer, then enjoy.

Culinary road biking

You plan your tours not only according to road maps, but also according to where to stop for refreshments. And to explore the best restaurants in the region. Regional specialities, a good espresso or a well-earned pasta dish are just as important to you as the kilometres in the saddle. You know that the best memories are often not made at the summit, but at the table with racing bikes & culinary delights.

Your motto: Ride & Dine.

The all-rounder: anything is possible

Why choose when you can have it all? Take the pass with you, enjoy the view, and treat yourself to a long break. And maybe you'll jump into the pool afterwards. For you, road cycling is a complete package of sport, adventure and enjoyment.

Your motto: The main thing is to be outside and enjoy.

Your road bike type? Probably a bit of everything

Very few road cyclists fit into just one category—and that’s a good thing. Sometimes you want to burn off energy, sometimes you just want to roll, sometimes you want to enjoy yourself. After all, it's precisely this mixture that makes road cycling so appealing. In the end, it's not about fitting into a box – it's about riding exactly the kind of tour you want to do.
