More than just a road cycling holiday: Sporthotel Zoll focuses on performance
Active holidays, a performance centre and relaxation, all in one place

South Tyrol’s mountain passes are becoming a training ground
The location of the Sporthotel Zoll could hardly be better for road cyclists. Situated at around 1,000 metres above sea level, some of the most famous Alpine passes start right on the hotel’s doorstep. Whilst other road cycling regions boast individual classic passes, the area around Sterzing offers several legendary climbs within just a few kilometres.
Highlights for road cyclists include:
- Jaufen Pass
- Penser Joch
- Timmelsjoch
- the legendary route of the Ötztal Cycle Marathon
- numerous high-altitude circuits around Sterzing
Bike Excellence: A well-planned road cycling holiday
At the heart of the sports hotel’s new concept is the Bike Excellence programme. Rather than training based on gut feeling, everything here is based on objective data and sports science findings. A comprehensive analysis is carried out right at the start of your stay:
- Spiroergometry to determine training zones
- Bioimpedance analysis (BIA)
- Vision & Cognition Check
- Bike fitting
- personalised nutritional analysis
Based on these results, the team of experts draws up a personalised training plan that is precisely tailored to your current fitness level and goals – as well as the length of your stay at the hotel. The result is a road cycling holiday where every session is planned with a specific aim in mind – whether it’s building a solid foundation, preparing for a cycle marathon or specifically improving your performance on climbs.
Recovery becomes part of the training
If you train hard, you need to recover properly. That is precisely why recovery plays a central role at the new Sporthotel Zoll. To this end, a completely new training and recovery centre covering an area of around 700 m² has been built. The philosophy behind it is simple: progress is made not only during training, but above all during the recovery phases that follow. Alongside a modern, state-of-the-art gym, a wide range of recovery tools await ambitious athletes:
- new sauna area
- Cold tub
- Zerobody dry floating
- Cryotherapy
- Reboots recovery systems
- Mobility and prehab programmes
Rest. Revive. Refuel.
The innovative concept behind the Bike Excellence Programme is based on three pillars:
- Rest.
Optimal regeneration for body and mind – from recovery treatments to sleep and relaxation.
- Revive.
Targeted training based on modern performance diagnostics and personalised training plans.
- Refuel.
Sports nutrition with practical strategies for long rides, elevation gain and optimal recovery.
This results in an innovative concept that combines exercise, nutrition and recovery – just as has long been standard practice in professional sport.
Your progress doesn’t stop at checkout
Another difference compared to traditional cycling hotels: the programme is far from over once you’ve returned home. As a guest at Sporthotel Zoll and a participant in the Bike Excellence programme, you’ll receive your personalised training plan for use at home following your one-to-one debriefing session. Your progress will continue to be monitored at home via the training app, which offers 24/7 online support, and through follow-up sessions with the coaches. This turns a road cycling holiday into a sustainable training programme.
Road Cycling Holiday 2.0
The new Sporthotel Zoll is aimed at road cyclists who want more than just beautiful rides. Of course, legendary Alpine passes, stunning landscapes and South Tyrolean hospitality are still very much part of the experience. What’s new, however, is the combination of performance, science and recovery. Anyone looking to prepare specifically for their season, improve their performance levels professionally or tackle their next cycle marathon will find a holistic concept here from June 2026 that is unique in this form. Or to put it another way: the Sporthotel Zoll is not just a cycling hotel. It is a professional training camp with hotel comfort.
