Where old meets new and traditional wooden architecture meets contemporary design, it's all about steep mountain climbs and leisurely tours through the traditional cultural landscape of the region’s 23 villages. At the same time, the 4-border region presents itself from a very pleasant side - away from the masses, no fuss, no hustle and bustle. Something to look forward to on gravel bike holiday in the Bregenz Forest.
In keeping with the motto "small but beautiful", the region in the west of Austria scores with exciting tours off asphalted roads, across meadows and on forest and woodland trails. Here, the asphalt quickly turns to gravel under the wheels of the gravel bike, and the plain becomes a mountain landscape. The possibilities concentrated on relatively small terrain take you from Lake Constance to the Hochtannberg and over the Auenfelder, via the Faschinajoch into the Große Walsertal or over the Furkajoch to Feldkirch. And that's not all: in the 4-border region, you can bike around Lake Constance to Germany, Switzerland and as far as the Principality of Liechtenstein. On the tours over rough and smooth, you will also discover one or two scenic features, such as the plenter forests. In the Bregenz Forest, you can gravel bike through the landscape of the Mellental nature reserve, along the Bregenzer Ache river or uphill to the Mörzelspitze for summit bliss.
