If you follow the course of the turquoise blue Soča – one of the most native rivers in the Alps – in southern direction, then an unexpectedly vast green landscape of hills, seemingly reaching the horizon, opens before your eyes. The picturesque landscape reminds of Tuscany. Cherry, peach, olive and fig trees as well as vines and much more grow in the terracelike landscape. Welcome to Brda! Tradition is very important here. The hospitable natives are very proud of their culture and their regional cuisine with excellent local products.
The region in the most western corner of Slovenia is protected by the Sabotin mountain ridge and the Korada in the north; the Friuli lowlands in the south ensure the influence of the Mediterranean Sea’s warm climate.
You can experience Brda at close range on 280 kilometres of well-maintained cycle tracks. Many roads meander between small romantic villages - just perfect for road bike tours.
