What the roadbike expert says:
A lovely afternoon tour to warm up and explore the area with is the Dachstein circuit. It leads from Flauchau/Tauernhof to Altenmarkt and on the old Roman road to Radstadt. Carrying on in the direction of Schladming, you reach the Hotel Pichlmayrgut, first recorded in 1117. After a short, steep climb, you reach the high plateau of Ramsau/Vorberg, at the foot of the Dachstein. We recommend the traditional Fiakerwirt right in the centre of Filzmoos as a great place for riders to enjoy refreshment. You can finish the circuit to Flachau in Eben, or carry on up from there for a longer circuit into the Fritztal valley, via Bischofshofen, St. Johann to Wagrain and back to Flachau, extending the half-day tour into a full-day one.
