Kitzbüheler Alpen

… The legendary roadbike region

Kitzbühel has a strong tradition of racing biking. The legendary bike races on the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain are proof of this, it’s the steepest mountain you can cycle up in Austria.

Away from the road:
Kitzbühel, the legendary sports town of the Alps, combines tradition and lifestyle as charmingly as no other place. This is just as evident in the traditional restaurants with their local cuisine, as it is in the award-winning gourmet restaurants.

Roadbike tours in the region

Roadbike season

May - October

What the roadbike expert says:

The central geographical location between the main Alpine Ridge and the Alpine foreland make the roadbike region of Kitzbühel especially charming. High mountain passes like the Großglockner are just as easy to get to as leisurely tours with short ascents on roads with little traffic in Chiemgau. One of my favourite tours is to the Wilder Kaiser, a 120 km round trip with wonderful views of the Kaiser mountain range from all sides. You can extend this tour by riding to the Chiemsee lake in Bavaria, where there are fabulous roads and small passes. Then you come back on the famous World Cup route of the Masters Rad World Championships in St.Johann.
