Racing cycle holidays in the Bregenz Forest
The Bregenz Forest is an unusual alpine region in Austria´s far west. An interesting mix of new and old, innovative crafts, culinary delights, culture and enjoyable activities in multifaceted nature make the special atmosphere visible and tangible.
With Germany, Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein as neighbouring countries, this landscape is very attractive for racing cyclists.
Racing cycling in the Bregenz Forest
13 developed, intermediate to difficult racing cycle tours lead across mountains, past pastures, through forests and the region’s 22 pretty villages. Routes away from the busy roads, like tours to Lorena, Schnepfegg or Schönenbach, are especially popular. Border-crossing circular routes into the Appenzeller Land, the Allgäu, the Lechtal Valley and the Paznaun Valley extent the region’s radius of action.
Au-Schoppernau is the ideal starting point for all tours. Popular Alpine passes like the Hochtannberg Pass, Flexen Pass, the Faschina Pass, Furka Pass, Bödele or the Riedberg Pass can be reached in all directions from here.
Tour tip for racing cyclists in the Bregenz Forest
Not only the fascinating mountain world makes the 3-Passes-Tour to one of the region´s top tours. The as difficult marked tour stretches across more than 100 kilometres and 2.650 metres in altitude and requires quite some physical fitness and muscle power to manage the three passes Hochtannberg Pass, Flexen Pass and Faschina Pass. Apart from the long, fast downhill rides, the mountain backdrop and the views from the passes across the region´s cultural landscape are also very attractive.

It is possible to choose between many different levels of difficulty. Everything a racing cyclist’s heart desires can be found in the Bregenz Forest, a region with fresh mountain air where others spend their wellness holidays.
