February - November
Thanks to the mild climate, spring and autumn are ideal for short trips and training camps. It gets slowly hotter from the beginning of May, which is the best time for cycling tours into the backcountry and the hills in the surrounding area.
Racing cycle holidays at Lake Garda
Lake Garda is the largest and one of the most popular lakes in Italy. Surrounded by mountains, its large water surface turns into a thermal reservoir which provides the sub-Mediterranean climate and the lush vegetation. Cypresses, oleander, cedars, olive and palm trees are typical for the southern region of Lake Garda. The region is also known for its vineyards like Lugana, Bardolino, Soave and Valpolicella.
Racing cycling at Lake Garda
The Riviera degli Ulivi stretches from Malcesine to Peschiera del Garda and along the River Mincio to Mantua. Here are cycling enthusiasts on their bikes almost all year round. The backcountry with Valpolicella and Lessinia and the Monte Baldo is one of the classic regions for racing cycle tours.
Racing cycling region Lake Garda
Countless small roads with little traffic lead in all directions through the beautiful, hilly to flat moraine landscape. In northern direction, the Alpine foothills are reached at some point while the Etsch Valley provides challenging sections where, at times, 800 metres in altitude must be managed on 11 kilometres of route. In contrast, routes across mainly flat terrain can be found in eastern direction towards Verona. The racing cycle tours start mainly at the lake and become steeper after a few kilometres of warm-up cycling. The way uphill leads through narrow bends, past small mountain villages and reveals again and again beautiful views to the lake.

The roads in Trentino are in perfect condition and are pretty much car-free; you only come across a few motorcyclists now and then.
Even though most cyclists have mountain biking on their mind when thinking about Lake Garda, the region has much more to offer. Racing cyclists feel especially happy along the southern part of the lake where Italian bicycle racing has its roots. A fantastic mountain landscape, the mild climate as well as interesting racing cycle routes in all directions make the southern site of Lake Garda one of the most popular holiday and training destinations for racing cycle enthusiasts.
