Bike season

January - December

The months of June to August are perfect for sunworshippers. The summer is hot and there are hardly any rainy days. The months of May, September, and October are pleasantly mild, and it gets cooler at night.

Racing bike holidays in Italy
The racing biking region between the Apennines and the Adriatic is perfect for preparation for the season thanks to its mild climate. The numerous passes attract riders from throughout the world. Marche offers ideal training routes, away from mass tourism, as well as leisure rides where the beautiful scenery is the focus.

The training region, Marche
The landscape of Marche, around Montefeltro, offers perfect conditions for doing efficient training units on a racing bike holiday. Racing cycle history opens up in the hills of the Montefeltro between the Adriatic Sea near Gabicce Monte and the Apennines Mountains. The Carpegna, Catria, Petrano and Nerone mountains have already been part of the Giro d’Italia. The rides take you over hills, through valleys, and up into the Apennine mountains. One of the more demanding ones is Monte Carpegna, once a favourite ride of Marco Pantani. The gradient of the climb reaches 20% on the slopes of this mountain.

Highlight Gran Fondo “Straducale”
At the end of June, the town of Urbia in the region is full of racing bikers. Cyclists from all over Italy meet for the Gran Fondo “Straducale“, to conquer one of the 3 routes between 73 and 200 km. In addition, the GRAN FONDO SQUALI takes place in Gabicce in May just 1 week before the Gran Fondo 9 Colli.

Dolce Vita and racing biking in Italy
Gourmets amongst racing bikers appreciate refuelling in the little villages during their tours: they take a break in Carpegna to sample the “Prosciutto di Carpegna”, then in Urbio for the famous cheese “Casciotta di Urbino”, and in Sassocorvaro to drink a glass of local beer.

It wasn’t art and culture that attracted us to this region. We wanted to race cycle! Even though here are only the foothills of the Apennines, the Marches offer experienced racing cyclists everything the heart desires.
